QuickBooks Cleanup

Your QuickBooks file is a mess. Here's what I do about it.

You can usually tell. The balance in QuickBooks doesn't match the bank. There's a number sitting in Opening Balance Equity. Your CPA keeps sending questions you can't answer.

I start with a free diagnostic, so we both know what's in the file before anyone agrees to anything. Then I fix what it found.

What I fix

  • Accounts that were never reconciled, or were forced to look reconciled
  • Transactions entered twice, or deleted when they shouldn't have been
  • Old invoices and bills, so what you're owed and what you owe are real
  • Income and expenses in the wrong accounts
  • Opening Balance Equity, cleared
  • Payroll liabilities matched to what your payroll company actually filed and paid
  • Months that were never entered

How it ends

Every bank and card account reconciled through the last month of the cleanup. A Profit and Loss and a Balance Sheet you can trust. A written list of anything I couldn't fix, and why. Then a call where I walk you through what changed.

The price

One price, set from what the diagnostic found, paid before I start, GET included. If I find something big the diagnostic couldn't have shown, I stop and show you before going on. You never get a bill for work you didn't agree to first.

Questions

Will you do my taxes once the books are clean?

No. Your CPA does the return. A clean file means they can work from it instead of digging.

How long does it take?

It depends on the file, and your agreement gives the number of weeks. The clock starts the day I have the last thing I asked for.

It costs nothing to find out where your books stand.

I go through your QuickBooks and show you what I find, whether or not you hire me. If your books are clean enough, I'll also show you a few quick moves that could put more money in your pocket.
