    A short call

    We talk about the business and what feels off about the books.

  2. II

    You invite me as your accountant

    Only you can send the invite from QuickBooks, so I walk you through it on the call.

  3. III

    I read the file

    Accounts, recent transactions, reconciliations, the audit log and the reconciliation history. I look. I change nothing.

  4. IV

    I show you what I found

    Within five business days of access. Usually I walk you through it on a call or in a five minute video, and you get it in writing if you prefer. If the books need a cleanup, a fixed-fee quote comes with it.

What I look at

Every place books usually go wrong.

The same checks, in the same order, on every file.

  1. Bank and card accountsFeeds, balances, and whether reconciliations were ever done, or forced.
  2. Undeposited Funds and UncategorizedMoney that never reached the bank in the books, and money nobody sorted.
  3. Profit and Loss, month by monthThe months that jump, and what is sitting in the wrong place.
  4. The Balance SheetBalances that do not make sense, and Opening Balance Equity that should be empty.
  5. Receivables and PayablesOld invoices and bills, and what they say about how money comes in and goes out.
  6. How transactions were builtPayments recorded around invoices, deposits counted twice, transfers booked as income.
  7. Hawaii GETWhether GET is set up, and whether it is being charged, recorded and paid on the right amounts.
  8. Setup, lists and appsThe chart of accounts, bank rules and connected apps that quietly add work every month.

Does it cost anything?

No. The diagnostic is free, and you are not agreeing to anything else by having one.

Why accountant access?

A diagnostic needs the audit log and the reconciliation history, and narrower QuickBooks roles do not show them. I still change nothing, and if you decide not to go ahead, I remove my access.

Do you work in QuickBooks Desktop?

No, only QuickBooks Online. If you are on Desktop, we talk about moving to QuickBooks Online first.

What do I actually get?

What I found and what I would do about it, within five business days of access. I usually show you on a call or in a short video, and you can have it in writing if you prefer. If a cleanup is needed, a fixed-fee quote comes with it. If your books are clean enough to work from, I also set up a one-page view of your numbers beside targets you choose.

Is there paperwork?

A short agreement, signed online, that says all of the above in writing: free, hands off, confidential, and no obligation.
